About two and a half years ago we briefly informed you that Jim Barna Log & Timber Homes had a new International Distributor on board in the Czech Republic.
Our distributor Mr. Jiri Spurny, is an international business man who visits the United States on a regular basis. Similarly to many prospective Jim Barna customers and partners, he wanted to learn more about the American log home culture. He visited an Eric Johnson Log & Timber Frame Home Show in Pennsylvania, where he met Mr. and Mrs. Mulkern, - our local domestic distributors – at the corporate booth.
This visit led to discussions and an approximately one year planning process where Jiri and I worked on every aspects of a unique project and on Jiri’s log home distributorship.
The project itself included the customization of a standard Jim Barna floor plan, called the Autumn Belle as well as fine-tuning an additional, custom floor plan bought by Jiri for a secondary home. These homes were to be built on his ranch, which is located approximately 20 miles from the capital, Prague. To be acquainted with the property and the local conditions, I travelled to the Czech Republic and visited the building site. I was accompanied by Mr. Gabor Bodan, the leader of one of our independent log home building crews. Gabor is not only an experienced log home builder but also a Jim Barna Log Home distributor himself.
We were treated with warm hospitality and spent several days in the area, visiting the building site, meeting with local authorities and had the chance to enjoy the scenery of dark green forests, undisturbed wild life, and rolling hills of this beautiful, sprawling ranch.
The roads were in great condition and the building site itself was easily accessible for the trucks that delivered 40 foot containers with the log home packages.
Gabor’s crew brought the two homes to the dry-in stage and did some additional jobs. Local builders completed most of the finishing, conventional jobs.
The result is two breathtaking log homes in beautiful, natural surroundings. The homes are available for both Jiri’s personal guests and for his future Jim Barna prospects for visit.
